Beacon Award

Bedford College has been officially recognised as one of the best in the UK - by being awarded Beacon status by the Government.

Only the top FE colleges attain this status and Bedford College can add this accolade to a series of national awards - most recently an Outstanding Ofsted.

Chief Executive Ian Pryce said: “Over the last few years we have been striving to go from a Good to Great College - and we are there.  This is a tremendous achievement for our staff and students and recognises year upon year of effort and improvement. We hope that our students past and present across Bedfordshire will be proud to feel they have been part of this success.”

Kevin Brennan, Minister for FE, Skills, Apprenticeships and Consumer Affairs, presented Ian and his team with the Beacon status at a special ceremony in London on 6 July.
