A Level results day
Bedford College beat all its A Level records
again with a 100% pass rate and improved grades across a range
of subjects. More students than ever before gained three Grade As
to win places at university.
In Sociology 83% of students gained A or B
grades and in Environmental Sciences 75% achieved the same high
standards.
Individual highlights were:
Rochelle Balach, aged 19 of Bedford gained
three Grade As in English, Psychology and Sociology and is now off
to study English Literature at university. “I tried a school sixth
form but it wasn’t my kind of place. Bedford College has a more
adult atmosphere and different people.”
Harry Hill, aged 21, of Greenfield near
Flitwick gained three Grade As in Law, Politics and German - plus
he took a Film Studies course for interest. Entrance examination
willing, he is off to King’s College, London to study English and
German Law. He tried a school sixth form but found the environment
he wanted at Bedford College.
Sapphira Thorne, aged 18, of Bedford gained
three Grade As in Psychology, Sociology and Maths. She is going on
to Surrey to study Psychology. She didn’t wanted to stay on at
school and came to Bedford College because she thought it was a
much more mature environment. “The tutors were really supportive -
I can’t put into words how excited I feel.”
Isabel Herrara, aged 19, of Flitwick, gained
three Grade As in Sociology, Commercial Studies and Business
Studies. She is now going to Loughborough to take a four year
course in Business Retail Marketing Management. “I am really glad I
came to Bedford College rather than stay in the comfort zone of
school. “
Her mum, Bridget, said: “I feel strongly
Isabel would not have got such excellent results without the
support of tutors here at Bedford College. They took the time to
understand her as an individual so they could encourage her. Isabel
is much better prepared for university thanks to Bedford College.
“
Nila Quinn is off to Lucy Cavendish College,
Cambridge. Aged 21, Nila is a former Bedford College student who
went to a red brick uni before returning to Bedford College to try
again for Oxbridge. To add to her earlier A Levels, she did three
