Senior IT Technician
I have recently started a new role at Bedford
College as a Senior IT Technician. Previous to this, I had been
employed at Shuttleworth College since 2000. I like working at the
College as every day presents new challenges and there is a lot of
variety within my job role. It also helps that I work with some
very friendly and interesting people! Since coming from
Shuttleworth, Bedford College has provided me with a stimulating
and challenging work environment as the computer network is much
larger.
My biggest achievement has been a long but
rewarding process. When I started off at Shuttleworth College there
were only 30 computers and I was responsible for maintaining and
upgrading the network. Fast forward to now and there are not one
but six computer suites at Shuttleworth, which are home to 200
computers!
I have recently undertaken some training
provided by the College in the new telephone system. I have also
done some Microsoft training courses, and am hoping to partake in
additional qualifications in the future. Extra training has
definitely been beneficial to my job progression, and I would argue
that the College definitely facilitates the potential to progress
your career.
