Director of Apprenticeships

Circa £55,000 pa

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Director of Apprenticeships.

Bedford College is the largest Further Education College and deliverer of apprenticeships in the region with an income in excess of £35M. We are focused on ensuring that the learner experience and our relationship with our community and local and regional employers is at the heart of everything we do.

The role
The Director will be a member of the College’s Senior Management Team and will provide the authority, drive and leadership on our apprenticeship delivery. The provision will be responsive to change whilst maintaining the service to apprentices, employers and will seek to meet local priorities in line with the College’s Strategic Plan. In this rapidly changing environment, the postholder will ensure that the provision is agile and operates competitively in a market centered environment.

The person
An experienced leader and manager, you will have a proven track record in working with employers and with curriculum teams in delivering high quality programmes with successful learner outcomes. You will be able to show initiative, creativity and ambition and be capable of working within a rapidly developing key area of the Government Workforce Strategy.

The College is seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of Business.

The role
The post will play a key role in achieving the College’s Strategic Plan by leading the development and delivery of a range of very high quality, responsive and effective Business provision.  The role will focus on developing a distinct ‘Business School’ and maximising opportunities to work with local businesses.

The person
You will be an experienced manager with relevant work experience in the Business industry to underpin your subject leadership with credibility and authority. You will have recent experience of successful management/ team leadership in Further and Higher Education. You will also have relevant experience of academic curriculum delivery and have up to date knowledge of current government initiatives and funding in relation to FE, HE and Apprenticeships and its future and how that may impact on the College.

Our Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (CertEd/PGCE) is designed for those looking to teach vocational based subjects in a college environment OR academic based subjects such as GCSEs and A-Levels, in a Sixth Form environment.

Teaching placements at The Bedford Sixth Form

The Cert Ed/PGCE is a qualification for those who want to teach in the Adult Learning Sector (16-19) and is a University of Bedfordshire accredited Award. Both pathways lead to QTLS (Qualified Teacher in Learning and Skills) which is the main requirement to teach in Post-Compulsory Education. We have both part-time and full-time routes available.
