English as a Foreign Language (EFL)
This course is ideal if you are an
international student wishing to develop and improve your English
language skills and extend your knowledge of English grammar and
vocabulary.
Typically suited to students who want to study
or work in England, this course covers listening, speaking, reading
and writing in the English language.
Each course leads to one of the University of
Cambridge Exams Syndicate EFL qualifications.
In the first instance,
we will assess your English language skills so that you are placed
in a group that is working at your current level.
Our courses are aimed at
developing your overall confidence and proficiency when using and
communicating in English, through:
- your ability to listen and speak with
understanding
- your ability to read and write
- grammatical accuracy
- fluency in all skills
- improved pronunciation
- your range of vocabulary
Based on the advice of
your tutors following a mock examination, you can take one of the
following internationally recognised Cambridge University
examinations:
- Cambridge University Key English Test
(Elementary level)
- Cambridge University Preliminary English Test
(Low Intermediate level)
- Cambridge University First Certificate in
English (High Intermediate level)
- Cambridge University Certificate in Advanced
English (Advanced level)
- Cambridge University Certificate of
Proficiency in English (Advanced Plus level)
Each level is planned as
a one year course. If you attend for a second year, you will be
expected to move on to a higher level. Outstanding students may
progress through the levels more quickly.
All course fees include
a non-refundable exam registration fee. Further exam fees are
dependent upon the level at which you are studying. You must also
supply an administration fee when you apply – see how to apply for
details.
