Study methods and materials


When will I study?

Full time students will follow a programme of 15 hours a week.  This includes 12 hours of language lessons as well as individual and group tutorials.

Part-time students can choose one of the following courses:

  • Four or six hours a week, morning course
  • Four or six hours a week, afternoon course
  • Four hours a week, evening course

If you enrol on a part-time daytime course, you will attend either two sessions (four hours) or three sessions (six hours) per week.  Morning lessons are held between 9.30am and 11.30pm. Afternoon classes run from 1.00pm till 3.00pm.

If you enrol on one of our evening classes, you will attend twice a week.  Evening classes start at 6.30pm and finish at 8.30 p.m. and are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.


How will I study?

All classes follow a syllabus that incorporates the following:

  • conversation
  • exam preparation
  • grammar
  • listening
  • pronunciation
  • reading
  • speaking
  • vocabulary
  • writing.

Each class will have a coursebook as a basis for classwork and some will have a practice book as a basis for homework.

Additional learning materials will also be used regularly.

You can expect to engage in classroom activities that include individual work, pair and group work, role-play and whole class work. You will use Computer-assisted Language Learning programmes, videos and language games.
