We have invested more than £15 million in our facilities in the
past four years providing you with many modern learning
environments. As a higher education or professional student you
will benefit from these resources at our Bedford College and
Shuttleworth College sites.
Based on the embankment of the River Great Ouse in Bedford town
centre, we can offer you some of the best facilities around and
everything you need to succeed.
Learning Resources Centre (LRC)
The newly refurbished LRC provides you with different learning
zones for different types of study. There is a quiet zone for when
you need to concentrate and study alone and group study zones for
when you are working on team projects. The LRC includes over 30,000
items such as books, DVDs and journals as well as a wide variety of
e-books and e-resources. We also provide access to computers
including PCs, Macs and netbooks, and free WiFi whenever the LRC is
open. Out of hours, you can access our online library services
remotely 24 hours a day, seven days a week through Moodle, our
student intranet. We provide photocopying and scanning facilities,
and our staff are always on hand to help you out.
South Bank Arts Centre
Our £6 million centre gives you access to first-class teaching
facilities, with cutting-edge industry standard media and music
suites including TV and recording studios, editing suites and
graphic design studios with the latest Apple Macs. Our art gallery
provides you with a fantastic space to showcase your work or view
an exciting range of external work including graphics, painting,
installation and textiles. Our theatre enables you to be involved
in some of our frequent performances and there are regular artist

Springs Sports & Leisure Centre
Available for all students at the College, you can benefit from
the fantastic sports facilities on offer at our £2.5 million
Springs Sports Centre. The centre boasts a full-sized sports hall,
spacious dance studio and a fully equipped fitness studio featuring
cardiovascular equipment and weights.
The Mezz – Restaurant & Coffee Shop
Our refectory and coffee shop offers you a wide range of meals
and snacks, from breakfast through to 7.00pm. The great value food
includes a range of healthy and vegetarian options.
