We have been offering degree-level and professional
qualifications for more than 50 years so you can be reassured of
our legacy and experience.
Our higher education provision was given a glowing review by the
Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in 2009. In particular we were
praised for our high standard of assessment, the accessibility of
our tutors and involvement of employers in our courses. These areas
were highlighted as good practice and of great benefit to student
learning.
Other accolades and awards we have received include:
- EFQM 5-star Recognition for Excellence award from the British
Quality Foundation – one of their highest levels of award. We were
the only English organisation shortlisted for the Overall
Excellence award at the prestigious UK Excellence Awards, and we
also received a special mention for the quality of our
leadership.
- In 2009 we were awarded Beacon status which recognises the very
best providers within the further education and skills sector.
Beacons are a source of expertise and willingly share their good
practice with other organisations.
- We have been recognised as a Training Excellence provider. This
prestigious achievement is only awarded to the very best
organisations. It recognises that we engage our customers in
dialogue to understand their business needs and provide relevant
products and services, delivered to high standards of quality.
- Our Student Services department has been awarded the national
Matrix Standard, reflecting the high quality of advice and guidance
it provides.
Talented tutors
You want to learn from the best and whatever course you choose
to study, you will be taught by someone who is a specialist in your
subject area. Many of our tutors also have invaluable industry
experience, contacts, and maintain a working relationship with
their profession. This all means that they keep up-to-date with the
latest industry issues, skills that employers are looking for and
can even help you to find employment.
We are also leading the way with the Personal Tutor support we
offer. You will be assigned a Personal Tutor who will give you
continual, one-on-one support throughout your time with us. You
will have regular tutorials with them, giving you the opportunity
to discuss your College work face-to-face.
Student success
Our students provide the best examples of our success. They have
achieved pass rates well above the national average across all
areas, proving that we are committed to supporting you and will
encourage you to achieve great results.
In fact, in the latest Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE)*
survey our students gave us an 80% satisfaction rating, ranking us
above many other colleges and universities in the UK. The results
were even better with regard to direct funded HNCs and HNDs where
the satisfaction rating was 88% for Bedford College.
