Computing & IT
If you want to be in demand and work in a fast paced, constantly changing industry, then a career in IT is definitely for you.
Here at Bedford College, we ensure that you are at the cutting edge of this exciting subject by teaching you the latest skills and techniques accredited by the world’s leading IT companies such as Microsoft, CompTIA and CISCO. Qualifications range from beginner through to degree-level over a wide range of specialisms such as programming, software testing, systems analysis and web design.
Why choose us?
To ensure you are familiar with the latest technology used in the computing industry we provide you with up-to-date facilities including a dedicated Microsoft Professional computer suite. Our CISCO networking suite has raised flooring for practical networking and a range of Layer 1, Layer 2 and Layer 3 equipment for all forms of networking. In all of our computer suites there is one computer for every student on the course.
Gain professional workplace skills
Many of our Level 3 courses have units mapped to industry standard certification – for example, Cisco CCNA, CompTIA A+, Network+ and Microsoft Professional certifications which will enable you to study professional IT courses as part of your main qualification. Students find these units particularly enjoyable as they are taught what to expect from the industry.
Excellent support and guidance
You will benefit from the expertise and contacts of our specialist computing tutors who have worked in the IT industry in a wide range of roles including networking, programming, PC maintenance, website development and helpdesk support.
Be more employable
Our close links with the computing sector mean that you will benefit from the knowledge and insight of industry experts and guest lecturers. We also regularly work with organisations such as the British Computer Society, CISCO, and Microsoft, as well as local employers to deliver courses that are tailored to the workplace.
Trips and visits to complement your studies
Educational visits are organised to give you the opportunity to see how IT is used in a real-life setting; last year our students went to France to learn about the role IT has to play in the rides and exhibits at Disneyland.
