We are at the forefront of delivering award-winning renewable technology courses and one of the few specialist training providers across the UK to be named a National Skills Academy (NSA) for Environmental Technology, ensuring that you will develop the new skills that employers are looking for as the industry goes through massive changes to meet sustainable construction demands.

Use fantastic facilities
We have a wide range of specialist facilities that recreate real working environments and ensure that you gain the confidence to develop new skills in a supervised environment. Our Gas & Plumbing Technology Centre is approved by City & Guilds and British Plumbing Employers Council (BPEC) and contains some of the most advanced equipment in the UK including, solar panels, photovoltaic (PV) panels, rain water harvesting, Dimplex ground source, heat and air pumps, and unvented hot water systems. The Centre was awarded the Level 1 National Award in Plumbing a Grade 1 – the very highest grade possible.

There are also 21 plumbing bays and 12 airing cupboard spaces, lead burning facilities, steel pipe area, an unvented hot water training area and an integrated gas assessment centre as well as gas cookers, fires, boilers, heaters and domestic appliances.

We have excellent links with local employers, many of whom have direct input into the design of our courses and will provide you with work experience. Opportunities like this not only improve your practical skills but demonstrate to future employers that you are enthusiastic, motivated and willing to learn on the job. Our more traditional courses also have an excellent reputation with employers, many of whom have direct input into what you learn to ensure that you stand out from the crowd when it comes to looking for a job. So whether you see yourself as a builder, painter and decorator, joiner, project manager, surveyor or one of the many related office based roles, enrolling on a course here will give you strong foundations for your future career.

Not only have our staff had successful careers in industry themselves, but they also lead in shaping the UK’s construction and building services training sector, such as talking at high profile industry events like Ecobuild. 

You will be encouraged to enter competitions and win awards to ensure that you stand out from the crowd when applying for jobs. Students on our Sustainable Construction Foundation Degree won a national Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition to gain £150,000 of Government funding to undertake a retrofit of Bedfordshire housing.
