Use fantastic facilities
We have a wide range of specialist facilities that recreate real working environments and ensure that you gain the confidence to develop new skills in a supervised environment. Our Gas & Plumbing Technology Centre is approved by City & Guilds and British Plumbing Employers Council (BPEC) and contains some of the most advanced equipment in the UK including, solar panels, photovoltaic (PV) panels, rain water harvesting, Dimplex ground source, heat and air pumps, and unvented hot water systems.
The Centre was awarded the Level 1 National Award in Plumbing a Grade 1 – the very highest grade possible.There are also 21 plumbing bays and 12 airing cupboard spaces, lead burning facilities, steel pipe area, an unvented hot water training area and an integrated gas assessment centre as well as gas cookers, fires, boilers, heaters and domestic appliances.

You will be encouraged to enter competitions and win awards to ensure that you stand out from the crowd when applying for jobs. Students on our Sustainable Construction Foundation Degree won a national Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition to gain £150,000 of Government funding to undertake a retrofit of Bedfordshire housing.
